Situation
Le Meridien Limassol Spa and Resort is one of the world’s premier holiday resorts. It was awarded the prestigious awards of World's Leading Spa Resort and Europe's Leading Resort at the recent World Travel Awards 2003 held in New York.
The road to achieving this level of recognition has been long and difficult. All through this effort it has recognised that one of the success factors has been the quality of the staff that make up Le Meridien Limassol Spa and Resort team.
To assist it in reaching this prestigious position, it enlisted the support of the Peter Andreou Group. The objective, to design a customised Performance Appraisal System that would enable it to continuously increase the quality and value of its Human Capital and thus reach and maintain top position.
Solution
The project involved thorough research and discussions with management to identify the core issues relating to the Performance Appraisal System. The Peter Andreou Group then analysed all the information gathered and designed a system that would meet the client’s needs, to create winning people. The system was then refined through successive discussions with management.
Once the final version of the Performance Appraisal System was established, the Peter Andreou Group trained all of the management team on how to use the system and conduct the Appraisal Process in order to obtain the most benefit. Support continued to be provided even after the first appraisals had been conducted in order to ensure that the client obtained the highest level of benefit.
Outcome
Having used the Performance Appraisal System, Le Meridien Limassol Spa and Resort have a tool which:
- Is tailor made to their requirements
- Enables it to continuously improve its staff through a planned structured process resulting in operational benefits
- Has reduced staff turnover enabling the hotel to retain its 'Good' staff
- Has improved the communication and teamwork between staff and management.
